Estos son los trabajos que hicimos a lo largo del año
Dialogue: Michael Morpugo
Pato, our literature teacher, gave us the task of loking information about the wrtiter of «She was a Phantom of Delight»
Birth: 7th of April 1770
Death: 23th of April 1850
Influence on the writer: living on the Lake District.
Who is the poem for: his wife, Mary
Read the poem and check the meaning of new words.
Subjectivity: All romantic literature is subjective. It is an expression of the inner urges of the soul of the artist. The poet gives free expression to his feelings, emotions, experiences, thoughts and ideas and does not care for rules and regulations. The emphasis is laid on inspiration and intuition.
Hellenism: Hellenistic romance, also called Greek romance , adventure tale, usually with a quasi-historical setting, in which a virtuous heroine and her valiant lover are separated by a series of misadventures. It’s antique.
Supernaturalism: is another important feature of romantic poetry. Most of the romantic poets used supernatural elements in their poetry. Not natural.
Imagination:The romantic poets laid emphasis on imagination and emotion. The 18th century neo-classical poets had emphasized on reason and intellect.
Nature: Romantic poetry carries us away from the suffocating atmosphere of cities into the fresh and invigorating company of the out of door world. All poets were lovers of nature and looked at the beautiful aspects of nature. Wordsworth, spiritualizes nature.
Escapism: Escapism is another striking characteristic of romantic poetry. Escapism is a term, which implies a writer’s failure to face the agonies of real life and take shelter somewhere else instead of fighting against the odds.
Escaping reality.
Elements of Romantic poetry: subjectivity, Hellenism, supernaturalism, imagination, nature and escapism.
Pato, Our Literature teacher, gave us the task to find romantic elements in the 3 of the poems we analized, which are «Passion», «The Clod and the Pebble» and «She was Phantom of Delight». I made this chart with Milagros Montanelli and Victoria Landolfo
The Clod and the Pebble | Passion | She was a Phantom of Delight |
Subjectivity: because the Clod and the Pebble give a free expression to their feelings, emotions, experiences, thoughts and ideas. In our opinion, it is clear that the clod had a bad experience with love, and that’s way he is against it. | Subjectivity: because the main voice explains their feelings about a man. “Heartbreak” explaining the unrequited love that she had. | Subjectivity: “a lovely apparition” because the main voice speaks about his feeling towards his wife. |
Supernaturalism: because it isn’t natural that a clod and a pebble share their feelings about love and speak about it | Supernaturalism: because it isn’t natural that a girl speaks to the sky. | Hellenism: because death is between the man and her wife |
Nature: the main voices are a clod and a pebble. | Hellenism: because she love a man that doesn’t love her back. | Supernaturalism: because he sees her wife “To haunt, to startle, and way-lay” |
Imagination: “then the sky spoke to me in language clear” because the girl is imagine that she speaks to the sky | Imagination: because he imagine her wife
Nature: because in the poem, the sky is involved. | Nature: because he uses nature to describe the woman
Escapism: because the main voice is living in a world of fantasy, in a world with nature being the best thing | Escapism: because the main voice is seeing her wife, and by he is escaping reality, and dont accepting that he is never going to see her wife again. |
Laura, our language teacher, gave us the task of making a poster in pairs with a website called «Movie Poster». I made this with Maria Roggero.
En la clase de tecnología terminamos de pasar las entrevistas y cada una entrevistó a un miembro de la familia, en este caso yo entrevisté a mi tía.

Hollywood’s most famous murder case unfolded on January 15, 1947 when the raven-haired, 22-year-old actress Elizabeth Short was found dead on Norton Avenue between 39th and Coliseum streets in Los Angeles. Her body had been cut in half and appeared to have been drained of blood with precision. The murderer had also cut 3-inch gashes into each corner of her mouth, creating a spooky clown-esque smile.
Short’s murder quickly became a sensation, not only because of its location in the show biz capital, but also because the police worked in tandem with the press to disseminate clues in hopes of locating a suspect. Several people confessed, only to be later released for lack of evidence. Much speculation surrounded the details of Short’s life. Grieving after the death of a man she fell in love with, she reportedly befriended many men while frequenting jazz clubs, making it nearly impossible to pin down who she could have been with before she died. Her unsolved murder has spawned several movies, television specials, and books. One such account was written by Steve Hodel who implicated his own father, a Los Angeles doctor, as the Black Dahlia murderer. No charges were ever filed.
disseminate clues: spread information
drained of blood: to withdraw or draw off (a liquid) gradually;remove slowly or by degrees, as by filtration.
cut 3-inch gashes: To make a long deep cut in; slash deeply.
